The problem

A new community effort needed credibility before the infrastructure was finished.

Helping Hands DFW needed a public home that could explain the mission, welcome donors and volunteers, and point vulnerable neighbors toward existing local services without pretending every internal process was already complete.

The site had to balance empathy with clarity: soft enough for the subject matter, structured enough for partners and supporters, and honest about what was available now versus what would come next.

What we built

A small site with clear jobs for every page.

The build keeps the sitemap tight: homepage for the mission, donate for financial and in-kind support, resources for immediate help, support for volunteers and partners, and next steps for operational planning.

01 · Donation readiness

Make support possible before payment tooling is final.

The donate page explains how money will be used, gives supporters an email path while secure payment options are being set up, and separates in-kind needs into a simple list: clothing, hygiene kits, food, water, socks, shoes, and bags.

02 · Resource navigation

Turn the site into a useful doorway, not just a brochure.

The resources page groups shelters, food, meals, health, and support organizations into scannable cards. Each listing keeps the decision lightweight with a short description and a direct path to the partner organization.

03 · Support + next steps

Give volunteers a place to land and leadership a plan to follow.

The support page gives people a straightforward way to volunteer, join drives, or partner. The next-steps page captures the operational roadmap: mission scope, outreach playbook, donations, nonprofit setup, communications, and action phases.

Flagship feature

A resource directory designed to send people outward fast.

For a homelessness support site, usefulness matters more than novelty. The resource directory organizes trusted Dallas-Fort Worth services into plain categories so someone can move from need to next contact without reading a long organizational pitch.

Outcome

A live foundation for mission, support, and growth.

Helping Hands DFW now has a polished public presence that can welcome donors, volunteers, partners, and people looking for help today. It is simple enough to launch quickly and structured enough to grow as donation tooling, events, and nonprofit operations mature.
